From Demetres Tryphonopoulos:

Dear Poundians,

I’m writing to let you know that program copy forms for the 2016 MLA Annual Convention (7–10 January in Austin) will soon be available on the MLA Web site.  For your information, EPS is an MLA allied Organization.

Allied organizations have one guaranteed session and an opportunity to submit proposals for two additional sessions: one nonguaranteed proposal on your own and one collaborative proposal with one other entity; all proposals for nonguaranteed
sessions are reviewed by the Program Committee. Please note that each organization may cosponsor only one collaborative proposal; whether your organization submits the proposal or verifies a submission by another entity, allied organizations may
take part in only one collaborative session.

This year, EPS wishes to organize the following sessions:

Guaranteed Session:

“[ http://www.mla.org/cfp_detail_8023 ]Pound at the Harry Ransom Centre”

New scholarship related to holdings on Pound and other modernists at the Harry Ransom Center, U. of Texas, Austin. 250-word abstract and bio. by 21 March 2015; Demetres Tryphonopoulos ([log in to unmask]) and Tim Redman ([ mailto:[log in to unmask]
][log in to unmask]).

Sara Dunton ([log in to unmask]).

Nonguaranteed Proposal:

We invite papers on the relationships among Ezra Pound, teaching, and the future(s) of the university. 250-word abstract and a short bio. by 21 March 2015; Demetres Tryphonopoulos ([log in to unmask]) and David Ben-Merre ([log in to unmask])

The deadline for submitting copy to the MLA is April 1, 2015 and, thus, time is of the essence. If you are interested in making a proposal, please do so at your very earliest convenience.

Dear committee,

We have had the Brunnenburg conference info for some time now and I would like to ask for your advice re the temple initiative that Mary and her family have had. I don't know if they bought the columns or if they put them up of intend to do so.

However, Walter and John have called for donations to this project. Should we, as a society, collectively make a donation in the name of our organization?

Please let me know your thoughts on that score.

Perhaps you should also know that when I made the appeal for donations to the society at Christmas, Walter was the first to respond and he donated £50.

What do you think?

Best,

Roxana
