Since the CCHA expanded the tourney to twelve teams two years ago,
Michigan has quickly made a tradition of having a first-round loss at
home to a 12th-place team. In the first-ever tournament game under the
12-team format, #1 Michigan lost at home to #12 LSSU. It was that
memory that made Michigan fans happy this year to see LSSU edge out UNO
for 11th place, because "you know what those Lakers could do to us if we
had to play THEM again."
Frankly, I think we're just making those teams mad by playing the fight
song too often.
