While I have recently seen a unit or two of zebras have bad games, overall
I blame the coaches, not the refs for the junk that is allowed in hockey.
It is the coaches who should have control of their teams and should be
giving us the college ice hockey many of so enjoy so much. The coaches
also, I believe, have major input into what gets called and what doesn't.
Clearly we are in a time when the trash is being pushed. It is the win at
any cost attitude that is lowering the number and style of goals being
scored. The demi-hooks, slashes, cross-checks ... are accepted by too
many people. Yeah, the zebras can look pretty silly at times, or worse,
but I have a bigger problem with what some coaches are up to.
