Perhaps that string of tough games made this one seem like a walk in the
park to the Mavs of Nebraska-Omaha, who won 5-2 over Div II #1
Bama-Huntsville in their first ever come-from-behind victory of the year.
The win Saturday afternoon snapped UNO's 10-game losing streak, a string
which ended with 5 games against ranked opponents, one against New
Hampshire, 2 @ St. Cloud St., and a home and home with Wisconsin. UNO fell
behind 1-0, something which they hadn't come from behind to win until this
game. They pulled ahead 2-1, but Hunstville tied it up 2-2 before the end of
the 1st with a PP goal. UNO went on to score 2 in the second, and a PP goal
in third.
This was Bama-Huntsville's first home loss of the year. I for one am looking
forward to them coming out to Omaha in a couple weeks, for their second and
last road series of their season, and seeing how they handle 8,300+ fans
UNO's leading point-getter Derek Reynolds seperated his shoulder, putting
one more Mav on the sideline. Billy Pugliese missed this game and is
day-to-day with a shoulder injury, which may require off-season surjury.
These two teams face off tomorrow afternoon, and should be a good lead in to
the official super bowl pre-game.
More tomorrow on this game, but I am one happy UNO fan right now, seeing
them add one to the W column.
