FROM THE MINNESOTA DAILY ARTICLE ON 10/16/90:
Gopher Jason Miller, who injured his shoulder during the second period of
Friday night's 3-3 tie with St Cloud State, said that he will likely miss this
weekend's series with Denver Univ, but that he should be able to return to
the lineup the following week. Miller suffered a first-degree shoulder
separation, the mildest form, when he was checked into the boards chasing a
puck. He netted a goal and an assist before the injury.
Junior Cory Laylin, who has missed most of training camp with a pulled groin,
may also return for the series against the Canadian National Team in two weeks.
*BAY UPDATES ARENA STATUS*
The Gopher Hockey Team will play the entire 1991-92 season in Mariucci Arena if
all goes as planned, according to men's athletic director Rick Bay. Bay, who
watched the Gophers knock off St Cloud State on saturday night, said plans
called for the Gophers to stay on campus all of next season and open in their
new building in the fall of 1992.
Unlike St Cloud's new arena, Minnesota's new 10,000-seat arena WILL HAVE
seating behind the nets. Ground breaking will take place later this fall
across the street near the Fourth Street tennis courts.
I also read in the Star Tribune that Lance Pitlick was sent down from the
Phila Flyers due to a re-occurence of his season ending abdominal injury of
last year. I sure hope "Pit" is okay soon! He is the only former Gopher who
could fill Reed Larson's skates in the hitting dept.
That's all for now. Carol White
