some background to Pearlman's comments. Attachments do not work well on listservs. They screw up many people's computers, and yet remain unreadable. This has happened a couple times on the Pound listserv, and it generates rage and frustration. Now with this manuscript, it has happened again. I got no sense from Pearlman's response that he was attacking so much the contents of the manuscript as the means of its delivery (attachment) and its condition on arrival (gobbledygook).
I would be interested in reading the opening scene to the play. If that is compelling, I would probably want to read more. But who wants to read a manuscript in an e-mail format, on a listserv? I don't even respond to the really lenghthy e-mails. A Listserv just isn't the right medium for a play-length message. In my opinion.
