Anyone who caught the cable broadcast of the Maine-LSSU
Great Western Freezeout Final (Maine over LSSU 3-2) was
treated to a rousing finish...
With the score 3-1, LSSU appeared to close it to 3-2, BUT
the LSSU goal scorer HAD 1 FOOT IN THE CREASE! The announcers,
apparently pro-guys, commented that the goal would NEVER
have been waived off in the pros (any comment?)...
With LSSU's effective forechecking, Maine took a holding call
(Imes, I think), and Walsh took an additional minor for
apparently protesting the call...
5 minutes to go, two men down,... Sean Tallaire scores to close
it (again) to 3-2, with 1 minute still left on the penalty...
Maine killed that off well, and seemed to lock it up when LSSU
took a penalty with about 1:30 left, BUT...
After LSSU pulled their goalie and cranked it up a bit, Maine
made it a bit tough on themselves by missing the open net TWICE
with less than a minute left!
Wonderful...
Go Blue (but Radio's easier on the nerves)
