Charles Simard had two goals and Brandon Snee was great in goal for
Union as the Dutchmen beat Merrimack, 4-2, on Saturday night at
Achilles. Simard broke a 2-2 tie in the third period then fired a
shot into an empty net from outside the blue line to wrap it up in the
final seconds. Union is 2-0 for the first time since 1993, and breaks
a long winless streak against Hockey East opponents.

Union will try for three straight on Sunday evening when they play
their first road game of the season, visiting Providence.
