The OSU hockey team held a player's only meeting the other day to discuss their
current 0-5-1 streak. Their last win was in the SIT over Clarkson and they
wanted to talk about what they are doing wrong.
However, given the overall lack of discipline and talent on the team, the
streak may be more a result of scheduling. Their first eight games after
Clarkson have been at #2 Lake Superior (losses: 9-1,6-0), home against #7
Michigan State (5-5 tie and a 5-3 loss), away against #15 W. Michigan (losses
8-1 and 8-5 : I may be wrong on those scores, but they did lose), and a home
and home against #4 Michigan. It won't help their rating but their schedule
strength will improve which could pay off later when they play the lower-ranked
teams and when the Lake Speriors of the world rack up wins.. But gees, what a
way to come back to reality after winning the
SIT...six of their first eight games against top ten teams with three of those
games on the road.
