Lake Superior 2, Illinois Chicago 1 (OT)
UIC made its best effort of the season against Lake Superior but succumbed to
a power play goal by Jim Dowd at 3:15 of overtime. The game was well played --
good defense, fast skating, hard checking. Lake Superior went up by 1-0 at
18:20 of the second on a power play goal by Karl Johnston from Mark Astley and
Jim Dowd. Several opportunities were missed by both sides in the Third. Coach
Larry Pedrie pulled Goalie Gary Mangino with 0:56 left and UIC tied the game
at 19:14 with a flip shot by Dominic Dunlap from Rick Judson and Troy Florell.
In the overtime Lake Superior went on a power play at 3:15; after a couple of
flurries around the net, a shot from Jim Dowd dribbled in (assist to Doug
Weight).
Lake Superior looked good; UIC (now 0-7) may be on the way.
