based on glen's numbers and the RPI numbers, I've speculated
who would be in the tournament and how they would be seeded.
first, i eliminated maine. Now the obvious seeds are
west east
1 CC BU
2 minnesota vermont
3 western mich clarkson
4 mich state lowell
5 mich st. lawrence
6 lssu cornell
7 denver
8 bowling green
I really think cornell is out and the final spot is then a tossup
between bowling green and st. lawrence
so i now have
west east
1 CC BU
2 minnesota vermont
3 western mich clarkson
4 mich state lowell
5 mich st. lawrence/bowling green
6 lssu
7 denver
now somebody from the west goes east to do a 6/6
it will be either
1 of minn or western mich with a bye
or
denver
so i now have either | or
west east | west east
1 CC BU | CC BU
2 minn/wstrn minn/wstrn | minn vermont
3 mich state vermont | western denver
4 mich clarkson | mich st clarkson
5 lssu lowell | mich lowell
6 denver stl/bg | lssu stl/bg
|
now the crossover is done to give us |
west east | west east
1 CC BU | CC BU
2 minn/wstrn minn/wstrn | minn vermont
3 mich state vermont | western denver
4 mich clarkson | mich st clarkson
5 lowell lssu | lowell mich
6 stl/bg denver | stl/bg lssu
|
finally the reseed |
west east | west east
1 CC BU | CC BU
2 minn/wstrn minn/wstrn | minn mich
3 mich state lssu | western lssu
4 mich vermont | mich st vermont
5 lowell denver | lowell denver
6 stl/bg clarkson | stl/bg clarkson
|
and the brackets then are.... |
mich vermont | msu vermont
lowell denver | lowell denver
CC BU | CC BU
mich st lssu | wstrn lssu
stl/bg clarkson | stl/bg clarkson
minn/wst minn/wst | minn mich
The major differences are whether michigan or western gets the 4th bye
whether michigan or michigan state gets in the CC bracket and
who's bracketed against stl/bg
now the imponderables. If another team must be included (for
tourney win) then we lose the winner between st.lawrence and bowling
green.
If two or three tourney winners must be inluded then it is a tossup
between denver, clarkson, and lowell.
As of now, I see as rock solid precarious
WCHA: cc and minnesota denver
CCHA: western, msu, mich, lssu bg
