I've seen a few NHL games where the goalie lost his stick and one of his
defensemen gave the goalie his stick, then proceeded to retrieve the goalie's
stick from the corner and return it to him. There was no penalty called on
the defenseman!

Maybe college hockey and the NHL differ in this area, but it would seem to
me that no penalty should be called if the defensman is retrieving the goalie's
stick. In one of these instances, the goalie had to make a tough save with
a defenseman's stick. If the ref had a little common sense, he would
realize that the defenseman is only returning the goalie's stick and not
attempting to use it.

Just my opinion!
