By the time the ECACHL tournament comes around next year, the arena will be
known as the Times-Union Center. Albany's daily newspaper has purchased the
contract from Albany County giving them the naming rights to the arena after
Pepsi chose not to renew their contract.

That means that next years tournament will be filled with confusion as some
will call the arena the Pepsi Arena while others will call it the
Times-Union center. Of course, this will have no effect on those of us with
short term memory issues. We still call it the Knick.

I'm especially looking forward to seeing what effect the new name will have
on news coverage for local sporting events at the arena. I can't imagine
that the Troy Record or Schenectady Gazette will relish publishing stories
about events taking place at the Times-Union Center .

This posting has little, if any college hockey content. I chose to send it
in order to make sure that the list server was still functioning
