Straight from www.ccha.com/news (there is more but this is the basics of it):

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association has
approved a request by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association to
experiment with the two-referee, two-linesmen officiating system for the
1999-2000 and 2000-2001 seasons.

The CCHA will implement the system in a maximum of 25 games, including
non-conference matchups. Each of the 12 teams in the CCHA will play under
the system. A schedule of games that will feature the four-man system will
be determined at a later date.
