I like the "footrace", too.  But I cringe at the check the defenseman
often gets for his effort.  I'd guess that the injury rate would go up
and the number of penalties (boarding, hitting from behind) would go up.
 
But then the pass to the breaking wing that just misses ...  and is an
automatic icing now ...  just might continue play and interesting play
at that.
