According to Rick Comley, on the media conference call:
 
1. 12 teams selected
2. Seed in 2 regions by geography:
   west: 1. Mich 2. Minn 3. LS 4. Wisc 5. WMU 6. MSU
   east: 1. BU  2. HU 3. NH 4. MLow 5. RPI 6. NU
3. Determine who crosses over (2 teams):
   MSU gets to play at Munn, so Wisc & WMU must go east
   RPI gets to play in Albany, so UML and NU go west
4. Re-seed within the regional sites and you get your final result
   (that is UML comes out ahead of LSSU, NU beats out MSU, RPI
    falls behind UW and WMU)
