Alaskan contests "not counting" stopped being an advantage when
UAA became a full-fledged member of the WCHA. The NC$$ allows
only 34 games, and the 32-game league schedule forced the
Seawolves to choose between a successful, well-run and
profitable tournament (Nissan/Jeep Classic) and a traditional
home-and-home weekend with UAF. Why should WCHA teams
such as UW and MINN be allowed to play four non-league games
 and UAA only two?

It seems to me WCHA schools, at the very least, now HAVE
an incentive to play in Alaska. The rule did make sense before
the league affiliations, but now that "indies" are becoming
extinct, it's time for some NC$$ hockey reform.
