Well come on.  Most of the great Michigan centers are from British
Columbia.  Maybe he was pleasantly surprised that both are from his town.
Maybe they're Army brats and one was born in Newfoundland or something.
You can't just assume these things.
 
RE: The 1998 West regional being Michigan's tool for vengeance.  Jerry
Williams forgot about the odd years when the regional was in Madison (Munn
in the even ones).  You know how I knew last year would be our year?  The
band of the team we were going to play couldn't play the host's fight song
to get the fans on their side, and every year, like sheep, they'd cheer
harder against us. And the otherwise-knowledgeable Wisconsin
faithful wouldn't be calling our band, consisting of university students
and playing for a college hockey program, a "high-school band".
 
It was destiny.  Just like karma catching up to us this year, though I
hoped it would happen later.
