Here's an item from today's college hockey column by Gregg Wong (St. Paul
Pioneer Press):

"Eight of the nine league schools honored longtime referee Buzz Christensen
of Grand Rapids by giving him a team jersey with his name lettered across
the back.

Christensen was honored before Saturday's game at Michigan Tech, his last
game after nearly 20 years in the WCHA. It was Tech sports information
director Dave Fischer's idea to honor the guy everyone calls ``Buzzy.''

Which school didn't participate? St. Cloud State. No, the Huskies weren't
mad at Christensen because of his calls, nor were they being cheap. At least
that's what the school is saying.

``The school felt there already was a means of honoring people (via the
WCHA's Distinguished Service Award) and thought that was a more appropriate
way of doing it,'' Huskies spokeswoman Anne Abicht said."
