I was about to suggest the possibility of the shot to the crowd being an
accident by the OSU player until I read the "eyewitness report".

Often times at RPI, I lose sight of the puck in the speed and tangling of
player's legs. Also, a black puck when airborne, sometimes becomes invisible
against the background of the stands on the other side of the rink which are
darkened during game time. This makes me a bit nervous. Last year, I sat in
the first row behind the penalty boxes right next to the RPI bench and locker
room entrances. My right side was totally exposed to potential shots from the
ice. At least once, a puck hit the top of the glass only an inch from
potential disaster. This year though, I'm directly behind the bench and a bit
more protected.

On the goalie throwing the puck, etc. He really threw it that far up into the
stands? Then I guess no place is safe in the arena.

I belong to a service fraternity that runs a collection for charity once a year
in the field house as part of the Record's Clothe-a-Child campaign. Both times
we've run it, we've had close calls or run-ins with airborne pucks during
practice before the game. In Dec. 1990, a puck landed in the middle of a circle
of us talking. Last november, a puck flew OVER section 1, hit the back wall, t
then bounced off a fraternity brother. Is this some sort of sign against us
running this collection or what?

I had caught both those pucks and given them to kids. But if I want a puck, I'd
rather buy 'em in the bookstore at only $1.99 each.
