There are two separate bylaws impacting this
 
12              amateurism
12.1            General Regulations
12.1.1          amateur status (how to lose it)
 
        Only ameteur athletes can compete
        you lose amateur status
        a) using skill for pay in the sp[ort
        b) accepting promise of pay
        c) sign a commitment to play for professionals
        d) receives salary or reimbursement
 
 
12.2            involvement with professional teams
12.2.3          competition
12.2.3.2        competition with professionals
12.2.3.2.4      major junior a ice hockey
        NCAA considers major junior A teams as professionals
12.2.3.2.4.1    limitation on restoration of eligibility (apparently
                penalty MUST involve holding out at least a year and
                losing at least a year of eligibiliyu
