I realize that this topic has been beat to death by now, but I figure since
everyone else is getting their 2 cents worth, I might as well do the same.
My account is a first person one. My seat for the Game at the Achilles
Rink was in the seventh row of section 6, with the band sitting in the
first six rows. What happened was this: A person (assumed to be a Union
fan) wearing a mask had been running around with one other person. After
they circled the entire rink, one of the two decided to venture into
the section of RPI fans. As we walked by with his hands in the air,
he was simply booed. But as he past by, he slapped a band member on the head.
The band member than slapped him back. If you ask me, I don't think there
was anything wrong with the band member doing that. Then the person in the
mask went after the band. His mask was torn off and then thrown on the ice.
It was not much of a fight, as no real punches were thrown, but the
security people got there vary quickly and broke it up. The guy with the
mask was escorted out of the arena, and I believe so was the band member.
But that was it. If you ask me, I would say that the guy was asking for it.
If he wants to run around the rink, that is fine with him. Even his trip by
the pep band was tolerable. But as soon as he touched the band member,
he had gone to far.

So that's what happened. There were no instruments involved as the rumers
here at RPI say. Only an idiot in a mask asking for trouble.
