                         SIOUX CAPTURE MACNAUGHTON CUP!!!

North Dakota clinched the #1 seed in the WCHA Playoffs and at least a
share of the MacNaughton Cup with a 4-0 shutout of Alaska-Anchorage. The
win completed a sweep of the Seawolves, and was the second consecutive
shutout for Freshman goalie Aaron Schweitzer, who blanked UAA 2-0 on
Friday. The Seawolves played tough, hard-nosed defensive hockey in both
games without any cheap-shots, and stayed in it for most of the weekend.
But the Sioux defense was also solid, not allowing many good chances for
UAA. The Sioux improve to 24-8-2 overall, while the Seawolves fall to
9-20-3.

GOPHERS TAKE 3 OF 4 FROM CC AT CADET ICE ARENA.

Minnesota solidified their claim to second place in the WCHA with a win
and tie against the Colorado College Tigers at Cadet Ice Area. The
Scores were 3-3 on Friday night and 3-0 on Saturday Afternoon. The
Tigers blow a chance to put themselves in a better playoff position, and
must finish the regular season at UAA, not an easy road trip for anyone.

                  NORTHERN MICHIGAN SWEEPS MICHIGAN TECH.

The NMU Wildcats swept a home and away series with the Michigan Tech
Huskies, which moves them into a tie for eighth place with Anchorage.
The losses also move the Huskies closer to a date with North Dakota in
the WCHA playoffs.

                          NEW LOOK COLUMN.

As you may notice, the column has a different look to it. I am trying to
make it look more and more professional, without ruining what was good
about it before. With the advent of the multi-voter Unvarnished Truth
WCHA poll, I figured that it would be an excellent opportunity to
experiment with some new features. By next week, the new format will be
all set and ready to go. You'll still find the same classic features,
but they'll be some new ones as well. I'm looking foreward to providing
my readers with a new and improved column starting next week.

UNVARNISHED TRUTH POLL DELAYED UNTIL TUESDAY.

The Unvarnished Truth WCHA Poll is being delayed until Tuesday. The
USCHO national poll will also appear on Tuesday. I am considering a
three part per week format. This week is an experiment on how well it
works or doesn't work.

                          THAT'S ALL FOR NOW!

If anyone has a comment or question about my plans to change the format,
please let me know. I will take any such comments or suggestions under
serious advisement. My E-Mail is ([log in to unmask]). I'll see
you on Tuesday with both polls. Later.
