The Cornell Big Red and the Vermont Catamounts tied 2-2 tonite at
Vermont. The game was scoreless until late in the 2nd period when Cornell
captain Brad Chartrand scored. Under 2 mins later (still in the 2nd),
Matt Cooney scored on a disputed goal. Seemed like Vermont goalie Tim
Thomas had the puck pinned and Cooney crashed into him and the puck came
loose and rolled in. (I didn't see any of this....heard the game on
radio). Vermont rallied for 2 goals early in the third to
tie the game and that was the way it stayed. Cornell outshot Vermont (I
do not have the final totals but it was 28-21 thru regulation I think).
Cornell seemed to continue their aggressive play that led them to wins
over Harvard and Brown last weekend. Cornell has not last at Vermont
in their last 6 visits there (3-0-3). Cornell moves to 2-1-1 overall
and 2-0-1 in ECAC play. The Vermont Catamounts are now 5-1-1 and 2-0-1 in
ECAC action. The Big Red travel to Dartmouth to face off with the Big
Green tomorrow.
