The term insanity is not a very precise way to refer to mental illness. Two
of my friends suffer from schizophrenia and a good number of my friends
and acquaintances suffer from either bipolar (probably Pound's illness)
or unipolar affective disorder. Conrad, Lincoln, Churchill among others
suffered from unipolar; Wolfe suffered from bipolar. It's no disgrace.
And many people who suffer from no mental illness can speak just as
'crazily' as Pound did over Rome radio.
Putting a label on the person does not really help much with judgment
of either the actions or the words.
