Going back into the deep recesses of my memory, I seem to recall something
similar happened with the second and tying goal in the first game of the 1980
Olympics between the U.S. and Sweden. It happened with a minute or two left
in the game. I believe the Swedish goalie was out of position and the
defenseman pushed the goal off the moorings. I think it was Bill Baker who
took the shot while that was happening. The goal was off the moorings when
the puck went in, but it was still counted. Of course, I could have all the facts
jumbled, old age and all.
