Having been to the five Western Regionals, I have often noticed how tired the
team that played the first night looks the second night versus the bye team.
It also seems that the bye teams usually win. Granted they are supposed to
be the better teams, at least by the numbers. My recollection isn't strong
but I can only recall Minnesota beating Colorado College last year. If so,
that would make it 9-1 in favor of the bye team. Not having attended any
Eastern Regionals I don't know what the record has been there. Does anyone
have a more factual record than my memory?

I saw a note today suggesting a change to either 8 or 16 teams. I think I
agree. It's one thing to give the better teams the advantage of home ice or
a weaker opponent. It's another thing to give them a physical advantage, if
that's indeed what has been going on. It's interesting to note in this
regard that there is a now a day off between the semi-final games and the
final game which didn't use to be a few years back.

Thank you,

Doug P.
