I doubt that this will impact attendance or season ticket sales.
When I was a student in the late 1980s, tickets were $3.00 and
$4.00 and Yost averaged under 5000 a game. [And the annual
attendance figures were boosted by the fact that 2500-3500
Spartan fans crammed into Yost for every UM-MSU game.]
Tickets are now $6.00 and $8.00 and season ticket prices for
the majority [i.e. non-students] have been over $100.00 for at
least 2-3 years.
Yes, there WILL be a limit, but I don't think it will be reached with
a $2.00 increase.
Btw...don't get me wrong, I'm NOT happy about paying more to
see the Blue!
For what it's worth: I don't have the exact figures, but I *believe*
if you calculate per game cost for sideline season tickets it
comes to under $5.00 for students, over $7.00 for UM staff and
damn near $8.00 for the general public.
[Sort of like Taco Bell. You can get one for $.49 or a six-pack
for $2.94. :-]
