The Companion is an indispensable work and a real monument of
scholarship. When I directed the 1994 NEH Seminar for College
Teachers (Vince Sherry co-directed), we required the paperback,
updated edition.

I see from today's mail that Demetres Tryphonopoulos is co-editing a
Pound Encyclopedia for Greenwood Press with Stephen J. Adams,
projected for 2000 or 2001. It promises to be very helpful.

By the way, you can use Terry's work as a kind of concordance and
index to the Cantos as well, an added benefit. Terry deserves all of
our thanks.
