at MASS AMHERST 6, SALEM STATE 3
Tom Perry had his second hat trick of the season as the host Minutemen
(12-4-0) stayed unbeaten at home, 10-0-0. Salem (8-2-1) outshot UMass
in the game, 33-26, and led 2-1 after the first before UMass scored 5
of the last 6 goals (3-1 in the 2nd). UMass is 12-1-0 against DivII-III
teams or DivI teams that are not playing a full-time DivI schedule,
outscoring those teams 88-24. Against full-time DivI teams, they are
0-3-0, outscored 7-21.
at ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE 7, ST ANSELM 1
Sheldon Wolitski scored twice for the top-ranked team in DivII, now
12-3-1, and Derek Puppa stopped 31 of 32 shots. UAH led 5-0 after two
before Brian Ward got St A's (4-3-1) on the board early in the third.
UAH outshot the visitors 39-32 and will play its third straight
Northeast-10 Conference team next weekend, hosting Stonehill (UAH
hosted Merrimack to open the New Year).
BTW, I haven't heard a score from the Saturday game, but since today's
Boston Globe has UAH at 12-3-1 and they were 11-2-1 before this
weekend, it appears that St A's split the battle of top 5 DivII teams
down South.
