Last night in Potsdam, NY, the Clarkson University Golden Knights served
notice to the rest of the ECAC (and NCAA) that they are a serious national
contender. The Knights beat previously undefeated Northeastern, 12-1 (no
typo).
A summary follows.
Northeastern 1-0-0--1
Clarkson 6-2-4--12
Notes:
o Chris Rogles was stellar in goal for Clarkson. He even picked up an assist
on a 40-yard pass to Steve Dubinsky who then scored Clarkson's 8th goal.
o Dubinsky picked up a hat trick in the game's last 25 minutes, and added an
assist. Hugo Belanger scored two goals and two assists.
o Northeastern's starting goalie, Todd Reynolds, was removed after surrendering
four goals in the first eight-and-a-half minutes. He couldn't really be
blamed, though, and Mike Veisor did not have much better luck in relief.
o Other Clarkson goals were scored by Patrice Robataille (2 goals), freshman
Dave Seitz (1 goal, 2 assists), Craig Conroy (1-3), Marko Tuomainen (1 goal),
Guy Sanderson and Dave Green. Marchant, Tavi, and Mueller each had 2 as
assists.
o The only two goals surrendered by Clarkson in their 2 games this year were
both scored with the Knights at 5-on-3 disadvantages. They killed off an
another 5-on-3 last night.
o Clarkson will try to maintain their momentum against U-Mass-Lowell tonight.
