It's the "Sleep is bad" edition of the Hockey-L Poll.
Michigan State remains a unanimous #1, as they have since the New Year
began. BC took advantage of North Dakota's split and Western Michigan's
stumble to move up into the #2 hole. Western Michigan dropped from
third down to seventh. The nailbiter of the week was for 8th spot, where
Minnesota beat out Michigan by two points. At the low end, Denver and Maine
enter the poll, replacing Wisconsin and Vermont. Clarkson, MSU-Mankato,
Niagara and Alabama-Huntsville all are newly receiving votes.
We had 15 votes this week, nine West (5 WCHA, 3 CCHA, 1 CHA), five East (2
HEA, 2 ECAC and 1 MAAC) and one with no region indicated. The top 10 teams
appeared on all ballots, with #11 Denver appearing on 11 ballots. Below
that, nobody appeared on more than five.
The WCHA has six teams in the top 12, Hockey East has four, and the CCHA
has three. The closest ECAC teams were Cornell and Clarkson, who were 3 1/3
points shy of entry.
