Right now, the John Glas Fieldhouse (the Beaver Pond) will hold 3200 (Last
Year's Beaver Program says 5000, but that must be with the standing area
that they can open up).
Right now there are two plans in the works (rumors that I have heard) .
1. Knock out the South Wall of the Arena and put in seating on that side
of the rink.
2. The City of Bemidji has talked about building a Civic/Convention
Center. The financing that has been talked about is a 1/2 cent sales tax
increase in town. BSU would like to maybe get the arena built on campus
(possibly to the south of the current building). I have heard that the
City has
received a "Mighty Ducks" hockey grant from the State of Minnesota.
The Bemidji High School Boys and Girls teams currently use the Fieldhouse
and with BSU starting a D-I women's program, the City could really use
another rink in town (there is currently the Fieldhouse and a City owned
rink).
