Janet,

The pep band still trades off with the visiting bands at halftime, although
I wouldn't exactly call it competition, especially since most schools are
afraid to send pep bands to Lynah in the first place.

The 1812 Overture is no longer a traditional piece for hockey games, although
I'm pretty sure I've seen it in the band packets. (I'm not a member of the
pep band myself, but I'm a member of the marching band, and many of my friends
are in the pep band, including my alleged SO.) If you like, I could suggest
to the current pep band manager that it might be a nice tradition to return
to. There are certainly new songs in the repertoire that weren't around when
you were here; some of them also coincide with Faithful cheers, like
"Underbone," "Swanee," "Mary (Fight Maim Kill) had a Little Lamb..."

We have also made it a tradition (after a shaky start which almost cost Laing
Kennedy his job) that during the last period break of the regular season,
after the bears have stripped, the pep band plays the entire six verse alma
mater, and the entire rink is provided with lyric sheets beforehand.

Kentucky's not that far. Comin' to the Vermont/Dartmouth games Jan. 10/11?
