In response to Jonathan Gill's query about others using The Poetry &
Prose of E. P.

We have Poetry & Prose here at Western, and it was invaluable to me when
writing POUND IN PURGATORY. I might add that I was able to locate most of
the archival material that I conslted forthat workon the Web , and was able
to purchase xerox copies at far less cost that spending weeks in New Haven.
Of course, I missed any opportunity to meet other scholars labouring in the
Beinecke--as well as the delights of the New Haven Holiday Inn, and may have
missed some items that escaped the eye of the Beinecke staff, but I can live
with that.
I'm amazed that a wealthy institution like Columbia would not spring for
a copy.
