This is in response to several people mentioning my name about hotels.
ahhh yes. Last spring, happy with the experience we had in boston, I
made a valliant attempt to find appropriate lodging for this year.
I was absolutely UNsuccessful.
The list of contacts i used was passed on to me by Kathy Martin who
arranged a block rooms in Buffalo. I asked everybody on that list if
they were interested, and thus had a ballpark number of rooms. I also
learned that some folk had already made reservations on their own.
One venue was unable to do anything because it was already booked
(presumably by the NCAA)
A second venue was totally unwilling to either provide a rate
guarantee or to hold a block of rooms.
There was no consensus on an appropriate alternate hotel for me to
try.
At that point, i reported my lack of success and suggested folk make
their own reservations.
Next month, i'll be in St. Louis, and plan on making some inquiries
about apring 2007 while there.
I also have my eye on properties in Denver for both the luncheon and
staying.
