Once and for all, winning percentage is:
(2*Number of wins + Number of Ties) / (2*Number of games played)
or, if you prefer, you can factor out a two and get:
(Number of wins + 0.5* Number of Ties) / (Number of games played)
Either way, you get the same result.
Only incredibly rarely have I ever seen people refer to (Number of wins) /
(Number of games played) as a "winning percentage," even though this sounds
like the quantity implied by the title of the statistic.

Subject: ECAC question
I'm not sure where to find ECAC rules and I didn't see this covered in the
press release, so forgive me if this is a dumb question...
Since the ECAC is going from points to winning percentage for the
standings, how will they handle ties? Winning percentage is generally
number of games won divided by number of games, and since there are ties
in conference play, would the tie count the same as a loss? Unless they
have a policy like the Big Ten used to have in football (a tie equals a
half-win and half-loss), playing overtimes would be pointless.
Anyone see this mentioned?
