Getting shipped out to the other regional provides a wonderful
opportunity to see traditions you've taken for granted thru
uninitiated eyes. This observation flabbergasted me even more than
"who ever thought 'Give My Regards to Broadway' would make a good
fight song?" (from the same regionals)

The Big Red Bear was changed into its current snarling form
when I was an undergrad, and I've always thought it made a much better
sports mascot than Brown's goofy, cuddly version. It never occurred
to me that anyone could mistake the Bear's eternal snarl for something
rodential (reminds me of the Groundhog/Chipmunk dichotomy from "Grand
Old Ivy"); live and learn.

Personally, I think the Black Squirrels would be a good mascot
for Princeton if they ever decide to drop that Tiger thing.
