With all the talk recently about the ECAC's "first-to-3-points"
quarterfinal format, it got me thinking about how the playoff philosophy
in college hockey seems to be the opposite of that of pro sports. In
other words, if any tournament game is to be decided by a multigame
series, it should be the FINAL (best-of-three, none of this
first-to-3-points or total goals nonsense), not a quarterfinal. I know
that there is little chance that this will actually happen, but I just
thought I'd voice my opinion on the matter.
