Saturday at Starr Rink, Clarkson beat Colgate, 5-1, in a game
much closer than the score indicates.
Colgate dominated the first period but lead only 1-0. Clarkson's
line of Craig Conroy-Marko Tuomainen-Patrice Robitaille scored a pair
of goals on the first shift of the second period to give the Knights
a 2-1 lead. Clarkson goalie Jason Currie was HUGE in the second period
stopping all 18 shots that came his way. Colgate pressed in the third
but the Conroy-Robitaille-Tuomainen line gave Clarkson a 3-1 lead
with about 7 minutes left in the game. Jean-Francois Houle scored an
empty-netter wiht :27 left to make it 4-1 and only 8 seconds later,
Pat Theriault put a rebound past Colgate goalie Matt Weder for the
final margin of victory.
The story of the game:
SHOTS ON GOAL: Colgate 38 Clarkson 19
SAVES: Currie, CLK 37 Weder, COL 14
THREE STARS
1) Jason Currie, CLK
the 2nd and 3rd stars should be split among the Conroy-Tuomainen-Robitaille
line and I thought Colgate's Bruce Gardiner deserved mention as well.
