The all Minnesota weekly hockey publication carried a front page spread on
the Black Bears,

The front headline read: Big, Black and Bold............

THE NO 2 BLACK BEARS ARE BACK, MEANING THIS YEAR'S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
COULD BE A ....

                                           MAINE EVENT

Inside there is a 97-98 college hockey guide...this is what they said about
MAINE..

They're back! Maine could have been the best hockey team in the country
after Christmas last year, so how come you forgot them this year? The big,
fast Black Bears were in their final year of sanctions, which kept them out
of post season last season. But when suspended coach Shawn Walsh returned to
the bench after the holidays, the fire that made Maine a national power house
from 1992-95 returned and the Black Bears went 15-3 to close out the year.
Add that spark to a team that returns its top three scorers, Scott Parmentier
(20-8-28) and captains Steve Kariya (19-31-50), younger brother of Mighty
Duck's Paul Kariya and Shawn Wansborough (18-21-39) who suffered a knee
injury in split at Minnesota last weekend. Much of the defensive unit that
allowed less than three goals per game after Walsh returning and some top
recruits and Maine has a legitimate shot at a national championship this
year. On the blueline, captain David Cullen and Brian White lead the way,
while Alfie Michaud, who was no less than outstanding vs. Minnesota will
stand guard between the pipes. "Its going to be fun to watch how they grow,"
Walsh said after losing to Minnesota 3-2 Saturday (MAINE won 6-1 on Friday).
"We have a lot of heart."

WOW...........
