In a related matter, the committee voted to increase the length of
intermission between each period from 12 to 15 minutes. The intermission
will commence when the referee signals the timekeeper to start the clock.

OK, let me get this straight...
You add three minutes to the intermissions.  That's a little more time for the
muscles to cool down and tighten up.  In addition, you say that if you're not
starting the period, you must make a beeline from the locker room to the bench?
Is it just me, or does this sound like many pulled muscles and other such
injuries just waiting to happen?
