Canucks 1, Sharks 1
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Steve Kariya scored late in the
second period as the Vancouver Canucks rallied to tie
the San Jose Sharks 1-1 in their exhibition opener on
                Sunday night.

Kariya, the younger brother of Anaheim star Paul
Kariya, tied the game at 15:49 of the second, when he
followed his shot that bounced off goalie Johan
Hedberg's chest and fired it into the net. Jarkko Ruutu
and Matt Cooke got assists on the play.
