Dave Nonis who played at MAINE from '85 to '88 and served as captain his
senior year is the Senior VP, and Head of Hockey Operations for the
Canucks.  He also oversees the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL a Vancouver
affiliate where both Marcus and Bobby Stewart had a 4 game tryout last
year.  His knowledge of the Maine program and relationship with Shawn would
certainly be a contributing factor in giving Maine players a shot at the
NHL.
 
It should also be noted that the President of the Canucks is Brian Burke,
who also has a good relationship with Shawn.
