After I had written the previous post on NCAA Ice Hockey Memories, I
began to wonder whether Joe Louis Arena was, indeed, the largest venue to
host the FF.
The rundown:
Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN (2002) = 18,834
HSBC (Marine Midland) Arena in Buffalo, NY (2003) = 18,595
Fleet Center in Boston, MA (2004) = 19,600
Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI (2005) = 17,800
Vale City Arena in Columbus, OH (2006) = 17,500
It turns out, that the Fleet Center in Boston lists capacity for hockey
at 19,600 vs. 19,275 at the JLA. So, by a mere 325 seats, the winner is:
Fleet Center, site of the 2004 Frozen Four.
