I can't speak in general on this topic, but my understanding (from
attending NCAA Faculty Rep and Conference Faculty Rep meetings and from
conversations with a limited number of SIDs and Athletic Directors)
is that some schools will also have one women's sport compete at the
Division I level.  At Colorado College, I'm pretty certain that sport is
women's soccer.
