Re. Chris Heisenberg's forlorn hope that "Maine is dead" and his prediction
that the Bears won't fulfill their No. 1 preseason ranking (in Paul Gentile's
post): I don't know whether Maine will be ranked No. 1, but I believe we'll
be a contender. Maine did bring in two defensemen--Adam Tate and Mike
Gerrow--at mid-term last year, but with Maine out of the playoffs, they
elected not to use up a year of eligibility. One of them may switch to
forward.

Re. Chris's proposal to reduce Maine's scholarships to 12 if Maine beats out
his Wildcats in 1997-98. If we carry his proposal to its logical conclusion,
I presume he'll want Maine to give UNH two scholarships (for a total of 20)
in 2004.
