Q Cup Returns to New Haven Coliseum

Hamden, Conn. - College hockey will return once again to the New Haven
Coliseum over the winter holidays in 1997 as Quinnipiac College will
host
the Second Annual Q Cup on Friday, December 26, and Saturday, December
27.
The Christmas weekend tournament will feature Quinnipiac, Fairfield,
Holy
Cross and Villanova.
"I am very pleased that the success of last year+s Q Cup has
attracted
these outstanding Division I institutions to the Second Annual Q Cup,"
said
Quinnipiac Director of Athletics Jack McDonald. "It is our hope that
families, hockey fans and alumni from all of the institutions will once
again enjoy New Haven+s premier holiday family sporting attraction."
The First Annual Q Cup attracted over 2,000 fans over the course of
the
two-day event. The tournament, held on the same weekend last December,
was
hailed as a success by organizers, media and fans. The crowds
represented
record attendance figures for Braves+ hockey games. UConn won the Q Cup
with a 5-0 title game victory over Quinnipiac, while Fairfield fell to
Worcester State in the consolation.
