HOCKEY SET TO HOST FIRST ROUND NCAA DIVISION III PLAYOFF GAME
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Once again, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's hockey team has broken new ground.
The Corsairs will be the first team from the Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast to host an NCAA Division III playoff game when they host Trinity (CT) Wednesday, March 12th at the Stephan Hetland Memorial Ice Arena at 7:00 p.m.
UMass Dartmouth will bring an 18-8-1 record into Wednesday night’s game. The Corsairs enter the game having won their last eight games in succession, including all three games in the ECAC Northeast Tournament. Trinity is 15-10-2 and is on a three-game winning streak. The Bantams defeated Bowdoin, host Colby and Middlebury on the road to win the New England Small College Athletic Conference post-season tournament and claim the NESCAC’s automatic bid.
“We’re thrilled to be the ECAC Northeast representative for the third consecutive year,” said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach John Rolli. “We’re equally thrilled to be the first ECAC Northeast team to host an NCAA Tournament game.”
The winner of Wednesday’s game will travel to Elmira for a quarter-final game Saturday evening. The winner of that game will advance to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York March 22nd.
