Over 275 people attended the annual Friends of UNH Hockey Awards banquet
held this past Saturday, April 25. Seniors Mark Mowers, Tom Nolan, Dylan
Dellazay, Erik Johnson, Rob Gagnon, Joey Moran and Greg Dumont were
honored, and made brief, and emotional, remarks to the crowd.
Awards were made as follows:
Roger LeClerc (MVP) Award: Mark Mowers
Mark also shared the 1996 award with Todd Hall, and joins Eric
Flinton,
Todd Pearson, Jamie Hislop, Gordie Clark and Graham Bruder as
two-time winners.
Best Defenseman: Jayme Filipowicz
Guy Smith (Best Offensive Player) Award: Jason Krog
Jason also won this award last year.
Sid Knight Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement: Chad Onufrechuk
Seventh Player Award: Tom Nolan and Derek Bekar
Warren Brown Award for Best Defensive Forward: Mark Mowers
Mark also won this award last year.
Ted Karmeris Fan Favorite: Mark Mowers
Robert Kullen (Unsung Hero) Award: Dan Enders
Most Improved Player: Dylan Dellazay
Next year's captains-elect were introduced: Captain Jason Krog, Assistant
Captains Steve O'Brien and Derek Bekar.
The banquet also served as a final farewell for Assistant Coach Chris
Serino, who has accepted the head coaching position at Merrimack College.
